Hours of Operation

2015 Museum Hours

The museum features some exciting changes for 2015

Open weekends
Noon - 3PM
Memorial Day -

Open 10 AM to 4 PM seven days a week
Mid-June - Labor Day

After Labor Day:
Noon - 3 PM until
Columbus Day (10/12/15)

Be sure to see the new story boards, the touch screen table, and the expanded gift shop in the newly opened 1865 keeper house.

After summer, the museum closes until Spring, 2016, but do call us at (401) 423-3270 or e-mail us if you have a tour group you'd like to bring to the Beavertail Lighthouse Museum!

Beavertail may be reached via Rhode Island route 138 from the east or west side of Narragansett Bay. After crossing the Jamestown bridge (from North Kingstown) or the Newport Bridge (from Newport), follow the signs to Jamestown Center. Continue southward past Mackerel Cove Town Beach to Beavertail State Park at the tip of the island.

Beavertail Light Station Tower openings 2015

The light tower will be open for climbing between 1 PM and 4 PM

Dates will be posted May 2015

Openings are weather dependent; if inclement weather, opening will be the following day.

Some considerations for climbing the tower:
Climbers must be at least 4 ft. tall
Climbers are strongly urged to consider footwear other than flip flops

Neither small children nor pets may be carried
Both hands must be free for climbing
Climbers must be in line by 2:30 pm
A five dollar ($5) donation is suggested for each adult climber
