A Call for Artists
The Beavertail Lighthouse Museum Association and the Conanicut Island Art Association invite artists to participate in a Plein Air event to capture the beauty of one of Rhode Island’s most scenic places, Beavertail Point in Jamestown. During a three day period, June 24, 25, 26, dawn to dusk, participating artists will create one wet and unframed work to be displayed at the lighthouse for an auction-sale. The first 100 works submitted will be hung and sold at a public silent auction on Sunday, June 27th, from 1-4pm. Artists are asked to donate at least 50% of the selling price of each work.
Media: All painted media accepted.
Size: Maximum size 16 x 20.
Eligibility: Open to all artists 18 or older.
BLMA and CIAA reserve the right to reject work deemed unsuitable. Art hung & sold at the auction will be created during the event.
Deadline: Enter by Tuesday, June 17, 2010.
Delivery: Registered submissions will be accepted at the lighthouse on event days.
Auction: Exhibition and silent auction takes place 1pm - 4pm on Sun, June 27, 2010.
Removal: All unsold works must be removed from the auction gallery by the artists after the auction and no later than 4pm June 30. Art remaining after June 30 will belong to the BLMA or CIAA.
Commission: A minimum of 50% of the sale price of each work. Artists may choose to forward a larger portion of the sale price to the event. |
The Beavertail Lighthouse Museum
Association is a volunteer group established in 1993 for the purpose of preserving the historic buildings of the Beavertail Light, and sharing its 260 years of history through its museum. More than 25,000 visitors go through the museum of lighthouse history and maritime culture each year.
The Conanicut Island Art Association has been a part of the Jamestown artist community since 1974. The CIAA sponsors such events as the Annual Summer Art Show, 6 Town Hall Gallery shows a year, the Summer Craft Show, and the Holiday Craft Fair.
Both are charitable organizations, and they award scholarships annually. Donations are tax deductible.
