Beavertail is the third oldest lighthouse in the US, which ones are older?
Boston Light on Little Brewster Island built in 1716 and Brant Point Light on Nantucket Island built in 1746.

Are there public washrooms at Beavertail?
No, but there are several Porta-Johns provided by the Rhode Island DEM.

Can I bring a group for a special tour?
We can take groups of 25 or less through the museum from 4/1 through 11/15 but we do need a minimum of 2 weeks notice to arrange this type of tour. Arrangements can be made by e-mail, phone, or in writing to our PO Box.

Is it possible to go to the top of the light tower?
No, that is still secured U.S. Coast Guard property.

Do you have a gift shop?
Yes! The gift shop only sells during our operating hours, does not accept credit cards however personal checks are OK. The Gift shop does not take any mail order requests, nor will mail order requests of any kind be acknowledged.

How can I get my products and wares into the gift shop?
Vendors who wish to contact our gift shop committee chairperson must do so in writing at our PO Box between 1/15 and 3/31 of the calendar year, no telephone requests or on site solicitations are accepted.

Do you sell refreshments at Beavertail?
No, our gift shop does not provide refreshments.

Do you stamp Lighthouse Passports?
Yes.

Is there a public telephone in the museum?
No.

Is handicapped parking available?
Yes.
